Archaeology- Bolniška - 1 - Piran
Bolniška 1, 865 k.o. mesto
Within the framework of a building renovated in 1993 in Bolniška Street 1, Piran, rescue archaeological excavations were carried out under the leadership of Damijan Snoj. Only half of the building was thoroughly researched. Several architectural remains and small movable finds were found, most of them dating back to the period between the 1st century BC and 1st century AD. The finds also included some prehistoric fragments and pieces of pottery from the 2nd century BC, few artefacts from the 3rd and 4th centuries AD, as well as early-modern finds from the 16th and 17th centuries. The ceramic finds from Bolniška Street 1 were identified and described in detail by Iris Bekljanov Zidanšek in her diploma thesis.
