Saltpan Cuisine 2025 - Closing Event

You are cordially invited to the closing event of this year's edition of the culinary heritage project "The Saltpan Cuisine" which will take place on Wednesday, October 2 at 5:00 p.m. at Infocenter Monfort, the former salt warehouse in Portorož, Obala 8.

The event is organized as part of the 35th European Heritage Days and the 13th Cultural Heritage Week. This year’s theme, "Walls of Our Past, Foundations of Our Future," offers an excellent starting point for exploring, discovering, and understanding heritage as a part of our lives and our identity. At the same time, it encourages us to create new perspectives, approaches, and ways of understanding.

 

Program:

5:00 PM
Arrival of visitors and a visit of the exhibitions Sal Nostrum, Traditional Shipbuilding and Development of Nautical Sports, as well as the guest exhibition Maribor – Story of a Ship.

Introductory greetings and presentation of the project “The Cuisine of the Salt Pans.”

5:30 PM
Dr. Flavio Bonin, museum advisor, Maritime Museum “Sergej Mašera” Piran
The development of salt warehouses from the time of the Republic of Venice to the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

6:00 PM
MuzeFuze from the Muzofil Association perform Istrian melodies from both sides of the border.

6:30 PM
Associate Professor Dr. Daša Ličen, ZRC SAZU Institute of Slovenian Ethnology
Ethnological perspectives on Istrian cuisine.

Conclusion with refreshments and social gathering.

the Maritime Museum "Sergej Mašera" Piran, the Self-Governing Community of Italian Nationality Piran, the Community of Italians "Giuseppe Tartini" Piran, the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, the manager of the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park - Soline d.o.o., the ethnographic group “La Famea dei salineri”, the Science and Research Centre Koper, the Muzofil Association and others.
