Salt Pans Cuisine - baking of bread

You are cordially invited to this year's edition of the culinary heritage project “The Salt Pans Cuisine”.

The second event will take place on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 5 p.m. at the Museum of Salt-making in Fontanigge at the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park.

 

Programme:


17:00 Meeting at the entrance in Fontanigge in the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. From the there, we will walk to the Museum of Salt-making and explore this unique landscape accompanied by a park guide.

18:00 For participants who will not join the walk, a train will provide transportation from the Fontanigge entrance to the Museum of Salt-making.

18:30 Presentation and demonstration of bread preparation in the traditional wood fired bread oven of the salt workers' house.

It will be possible to join a guided tour of the Museum of Salt-making. A workshop for children will be held, during which they will prepare leavened dough and discover traditional bread stamps. Additionally, the ethnographic group La Famea dei Salineri will offer a demonstration of traditional games, both for children and adults.

19:00 Screening of the film Zgodba o soli (The Story of Salt), followed by a short lecture by Primož Pipan (Anton Melik Geographical Institute, ZRC SAZU), co-author of the film, who will present the international ethnographic and restoration volunteer camps that have taken place at the Museum of Salt-making.

21:00 Return by train to the entrance in Fontanigge.

 

We invite all visitors to bring their own glasses in order to reduce the use of single-use packaging.
