An evening dedicated to the batana and lampara boats
On Wednesday, 10 April 2024, the Info Center of the Maritime Museum at Montfort was fully packed.
We hosted a highly interesting evening with two events dedicated to the local boats. Initially, the visitors watched a new documentary film dealing with the utilization of lanterns in Savudrian traditional coastal fishing entitled "Lume: una luce nell'oscurità" (Light: light in the dark). It was made by Marina Paoletić and Lorenzo Fattor (Faber Filmmaking).
The next thing on the agenda was the presentation of the book written by journalist and writer Rosanna Turcinovich Giuricin from Rovinj, recounting her father's youth and his amazing feat of rowing a small batana boat all the way from Rovinj to Zadar in 1939. It was presented by the authoress most susceptibly. Preliminary, Kristjan Knez, the President of the centre "Carlo Combi" from Koper, carried out conservation with the authors.
The presentation was organized by the Community of Italians "Giuseppe Tartini" Piran, Self-governing community of Italian nationals Piran, Italian centre "Carlo Combi" Koper in cooperation with the Association for Historical and Geographical Studies Piran, and the Maritime Museum Piran. The documentary film was made in partnership with the Italian Centre "Carlo Combi" Koper and the Association of the Sea and Cultural Heritage Lovers "Savudrian Batana - Batana Salvorina" (2023). The presented book was published by the Edizioni Pendagron Publishing House in 2023.
