Museum of salt making celebrates 30 years
On the occasion of the Night of Museums, Saturday 19th June 2021, the Maritime Museum »Sergej Mašera« Piran will commemorate with a specific exhibition; the 30th anniversary of the Museum of Salt making, inaugurated in 1991 in the Fontanigge area and declared a Cultural Monument of national importance in 2001.
The interinstitutional exhibition was prepared and set up by our curators Ph.D. Flavio Bonin and Veronika Bjelica, as well as the curator at the Institute for the protection of cultural heritage - unit of Piran, Matjaž Kljun.
The exhibition presents the creation, development and also the criticalities that characterize the current difficult phase of this cultural jewel immersed in the natural park of the Sečovlje salt pans. The exhibition will remain open in the Piran Museum of Salt making until the end of August and will then be hosted in the Salt making Museum of Cervia (Italy) in September.
