Artefacts from the Maritime Museum Sergej Mašera Piran on the website of the East Asian Collection in Slovenia

The Maritime Museum Sergej Mašera Piran is taking part in the project East Asian Collection in Slovenia – Inclusion of Slovenia in the global exchange of artefacts and ideas with East Asia. The project is carried out by the Department of Asian Studies, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana in association with the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum and the Science and Research Centre Koper. The National Museum of Slovenia and the Provincial Museum of Celje are also engaged in its implementation.
The project, which is financed by the Public Research Agency of the Republic of Slovenia (ARRS), integrally and systematically deals with six collections of East Asian origin, which are held by four Slovenian museums, including a collection of postcards in an album, which covers the voyages made to East Asia by Ivan Koršič, Chaplain in the Austro-Hungarian Navy, and is kept by the Maritime Museum Sergej Mašera Piran. A significant part of the project is the database and website of the East Asian Collection in Slovenia https://vazcollections.si/ that came to life in October 2020. Among other artefacts, all East Asian postcards from Ivan Koršič's album https://vazcollections.si/zbirke/album-razglednic-ivana-korsica-pmsmp/ will be presented by it.

Maritime heritage researchers and lovers will also be interested in the largest collection of Chinese artefacts in Slovenia gathered by Ivan Skušek, Quartermaster in the Austro-Hungarian Navy held by the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum.
