Showcase of the month “Piran Peacock”
On the eve of the anniversary of the birth of France Prešeren, on December 2, 2011, in the lobby of the Gabrielli Palace, the showcase of the month entitled Piran Peacock, prepared by Snježana Karinja, was ceremoniously opened. A bronze fibula in the image of a peacock from the 6th century was presented. The object was found during the archeological excavations of Damijan Snoj in 1991 in the Church of St. George.
Two posters presented the circumstances of the find and the symbolic meaning of the peacock. The poster and leaflet were designed by Milena Oblak Erznožnik.
In addition to the original, there was also a silver museum replica of the fibula made by Miran Pflaum and the so-called "Sun Bird", designed in gold and silver by Oskar Kogoj, inspired by the original peacock-shaped fibula. On this occasion, he also donated a product in the image of a peacock to the Museum.
