Ceramics at the Museum

On Saturday, 20 January 2024, the Maritime Museum held a guided tour and a workshop for the participants of the project BalanCed. The event was organised by Cona b.p., a partner of the project BalanCed funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (https://vcentru.si/oprojektu/).

The visit started with a tour of the temporary exhibition “Fragments of the Far East: East Asian Objects in the Mariners' Collections” led by its author, museum councillor Bogdana Marinac.

Followed by the workshop “Ceramics at the Museum: On Conservation-Restoration of Ceramics” in which the conservator-restorer Ajda Purger presented her profession and the specifics of ceramics conservation. The various possibilities of infill presentation were observed on examples from the archaeological collection. The conservator-restorer advised on how to care for ceramic and porcelain objects from private collections and cupboards. The bravest participants also attempted adhering fragments of a ceramic flower pot.

We spent a pleasant afternoon and are looking forward to further cooperation!
