Presentation of the exhibition "Inhabitants of Your Sea"

During a pleasant evening gathering on 13 December 2023, biologist and entrepreneur Irena Fonda and Jurij Kavčnik, MSc, founders of the YouSea Institute Seča, presented the exhibition of Borut Furlan's underwater photographs titled "The Inhabitants of Your Sea". The Institute's vocation is to educate and raise people’s awareness about the biodiversity in the Slovenian sea, with the photos revealing the exceptionally picturesque world of fauna in our sea and urging us to treat the living world and underwater ecosystems with utmost respect.

The exhibition presents a selection of 19 for the first time exhibited photographs, some of which may indeed be somewhat less colourful at first glance, but are most interesting from a close-up. Each presented animal belongs to a different taxonomic category, with all of them inhabiting the local waters of Fiesa and Piran. All are presented equally, both the rare ones, such as the Crystal Sea Slug, and the very common ones, such as the Rocky-shore Hermit Crab. The photos instill in them their own character.

The presentation was also attended by Borut Furlan himself, and he was happy to share some of his photographic experience during a pleasant and relaxed conversation.

The exhibition will be on display at the Maritime Museum’s Monfort Exhibition Ground until the end of December 2023, while in 2024 it is planned to make guest appearances at several primary schools within the Blue School project.
