The Students of Primorska University paying a visit to the Maritime Museum Piran
Within the framework of the accessible exhibition "Zagreb in spe / Small Items - Big Stories", prepared by Aleksandra Bugar from the Zagreb City Museum and hosted by the Maritime Museum "Sergej Mašera« Piran, students from the University of Primorska UP FHŠ visited on 20 April 2023 the Maritime Museum to view the set-up exhibition.
Archaeology students taking the course Archaeology and the public, as well as those actively participating in the student project "Cultural Heritage" (under the mentorship of Asst Prof Dr Zrinka Mileusnić and Assoc Prof Dr Boris Kavur), were meticulously guided through the exhibition by its author Aleksandra Bugar. She acquainted them with the concept of the exhibition, which with the aid of six items depicts the earliest history of the area of modern-day Zagreb even prior to the city’s founding.
The students learned that different stories about the past could be presented with just a few items. The exhibition, which is adapted to a great extent for people with disabilities, also features the most faithful replicas of the original items that can be actually touched by visitors. Furthermore, the students learned what adjustments could be made to make the exhibition accessible to a wide range of visitors. Within the student project, they will make a good use of their new knowledge and design their own exhibition at a specific archaeological site in Koper.
