Museum consultants dr. Nadja Terčon and Bogdana Marinac at the reception held by the President Borut Pahor for their work with young researchers of history

On 22 June 2021, a celebratory closing manifestation of the Young History Researchers program was held at Vila Podrožnik, Ljubljana. On the initiative of Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia, young historians had carried out, in the school year 2020/2021 within the framework of this program, research on the subject of Slovenia's struggle for independence and events taking place.

The President handed out awards to young history researchers for their work, and gave a special thanks to the Commission for the Work of History Clubs within ZPMS (Association of Friends of the Youth of Slovenia).

The event brought together more than 120 students and their mentors from all over Slovenia, to which President Pahor, the honorary sponsor of the program in the school year 2020/2021, and dr. Nadja Terčon, President of the Commission for the Work of History Clubs, presented awards for their research work and final theses. To begin with, the participants were greeted by Darja Groznik, President of the Association of Friends of the Youth of Slovenia.
Long-standing members of the Commission are also museum consultants Dr Nadja Terčon and Bogdana Marinac from the Maritime Museum "Sergej Mašera" Piran.

The Commission for the Work of History Clubs within ZPMS has been functioning continuously for 52 years. It includes more than 20 historians, sociologists, art historians, archivists, conservators and ethnologists from various Slovenian cultural and scientific institutions, including several Phd's who dedicate their time as volunteers to work with young people. They are doing their best to help young people in researching various topics in an appropriate manner, getting to know and understand society and events taking place in the past, and at the same time taking care of the popularization of science and knowledge in general as well as the preservation and building of appropriate attitude towards cultural heritage.
