Saucer (India)

Saucer with wonderful coloured engraving with the peacock motif (incised and inlaid)

 

The article was owned by Stanislav Abram, Second Class Commodore, born in 1905 at Šentjernej in the Dolenjska region (modern-day Slovenia). From May 1953 to August 1955 he was the Commanding Officer of the training ship Galeb, which was also the presidential ship of Marshal Josip Broz – Tito, President of the Federative People's Republic of Yugoslavia. At the end of 1954 and in early 1955, Tito sailed with the Galeb to India and Burma. From this voyage, Stanislav Abram brought a saucer as a souvenir. After his death in 1985, the article was acquired by the Maritime Museum »Sergej Mašera« Piran.
