Olive harvesting at Tona’s House at Sv. Peter

On Saturday, 24 October 2026, between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m., olive harvesting will take place in a small olive grove bordering on Tona’s House. Join us and try out various harvesting methods as practiced in the past and present.

On this particular day, admission to the Ethnological Collection will be free. You will be able to learn more about olive oil making and the rural lifestyle in Slovenian Istria in the distant past.

 

Olive pickers will be served Istrian minestrone with homemade bread and dessert, while the most successful among you will also be rewarded with olive oil. Additionally, Nadja Bažec will demonstrate the process of preparing crushed olives. Olive oil and olive products will also be available for sale.
