Ethnological Collection Tona's House, Sv. Peter: Lea Jazbec: Physicality and the Essence of Space II

The Maritime Museum "Sergej Mašera" Piran invites you on Friday, 15 May 2026, at 7:00 PM to Tona’s House and its Ethnological Collection at Sv. Peter  for the opening of the guest exhibition by multimedia artist Lea Jazbec: Physicality and the Essence of Space II.

The event will be enriched with songs and performances by the Šavrini in anka Šavrinke cultural group, which preserves and transmits the intangible heritage of the Slovenian Istrian countryside.

Lea Jazbec approaches the exploration of nature and the human being through experimentation, the use of various media, and light. With the exhibition project, she presents a series of portraits that establish a relationship between humans and the landscape. The exhibited works were created in 2023 while she resided in the house of Alojz Kocjančič at Kubed, where, through the hand-printed graphic print of photographs on the Repen Povir stone, she explored landscape and humanity by portraying the men and women of Šavrini, whose origin and way of life the artist associates with the hard Karst stone.

The exhibition is part of the In Situ project, which is closely connected to nature, or rather to the surface area of a space. It speaks about our activities, movements, and the traces we leave behind, as well as the various consequences of our actions in a space.
