Exhibition SLOVENIAN SHIPS – Six Ships of Splošna plovba and the Motor Cargo Vessel Trbovlje at the Zasavje Museum Trbovlje
With the exhibition SLOVENIAN SHIPS – Six Ships of Splošna plovba and the Motor Cargo Vessel Trbovlje, our ships will arrive at the Zasavje Museum Trbovlje on 27 January 2026.
The multimedia exhibition presents Slovenia’s rich maritime past and its tangible and intangible heritage.
Through its distinctive exhibition design and exceptionally rich and significant maritime cultural, historical and artistic material, the exhibition evokes the history of Slovenian seafaring, placing the Slovenian shipping company Splošna plovba at its centre.
Reflection on the sad fate of what was once a flagship of Slovenian maritime activity represents an inevitably critical contribution to the preservation of historical memory and the valorisation of the material.
Ship models, maritime objects, artworks of shipboard artistic equipment by academic sculptor Stojan Batič from the Splošna plovba collection, archival documentary films, and of course the stamps from the SLOVENIAN SHIPS series, along with other exhibits, invite visitors to explore the exhibition.
The exhibition is authored by Duška Žitko, with Jože Utenkar and Boris Vidmar as professional collaborators.
The designer of five stamps from the series and the graphic designer of the exhibition is Matjaž Učakar.
In Trbovlje, students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Engineering, University of Ljubljana, under the mentorship of Boris Beja, will present their new 3D video animations of the interiors of Splošna plovba ships.
The exhibition is hosted by curator Katarina Rus Krušelj.
