Saltpan Cuisine and the Opening of the Photography Exhibition Janez Korošin: Saltpans

You are kindly invited on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at 6:00 PM to the Museum of Salt-making in Fontanigge at the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park, for the third event of this year’s edition of the culinary and heritage project Saltpan Cuisine.

As part of this event, the photography exhibition Janez Korošin: Saltpans will also be opened. The exhibition features photographs taken by photographer Janez Korošin in the Sečovlje saltpans in 1974. He created a unique visual record that is not only artistic but also an important documentary depiction of the early period of abandonment of the southern part of the saltpans.

The exhibition will be on display until October 2025.

 

Transportation for visitors will be provided by electric train – departure from the entrance in Fontanigge at 6:00 PM, return at 9:00 PM.

 

 

Event Program:

18:00 Gathering at the entrance to Fontanigge in the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park and departure by train to the Museum of Salt-making

 

18:30 Demonstration of minestra preparation

 

19:00 Opening of the photography exhibition Janez Korošin: Saltpans

 

19:45 Guided tour of the museum collection, educational workshops, and presentation and playing of traditional board games

 

21:00 Return by train to the entrance in Fontanigge.
