From ancient Greece and Rome to our country

 

On Saturday, 7 June 2025, you are kindly invited to the Maritime Museum Piran, Cankarjevo nabrežje 3, to a museum matinee, which is part of the Slovenian museums’ accompanying programme of the joint exhibition project “Heritage and the Power of Myths".

 

10:00 -11:00 hrs – We shall be acquainted with several ancient Greek objects that reached our country more than two millennia ago, as well as some ancient myths.

You shall be accompanied by Snježana Karinja, archaeologist at the Maritime Museum, and Miha Mlinar, archaeologist from the Tolmin Museum.

The lectures will be free of charge.

At 11:30 hrs, do join us at a creative clay workshop, where the "Owl Skyphos" cup will be shaped with the use of the pinching technique. The original artefact is held at the Tolmin Museum. Both adults and families are invited to the workshop.

The workshop will be led by Barbara Gogala from the company Tea For 2 Ceramics and Tina Flego from the Gaia Forms Studio.

Workshop price: adults 15 EUR, children 10 EUR. You will be able to pick up the products after the ceramics firing process is complete.
