Slovenian Maritime Police: From a National Protector to a Maritime Police Officer

The exhibition Slovenian Maritime Police: From a National Protector to a Maritime Police Officer, created in cooperation between the Department of Police of Capodistria, the Museum of the Slovenian Police and the Maritime Museum "Sergej Mašera" in Piran, presents the rich history of Slovenian maritime police. It takes us from the first guardians of the sea border, the National Defenders, which began operating in 1947, through the port people's militia and the Koper border militia to the maritime police in independent Slovenia. The exhibition marking the 75th anniversary of the Slovenian Maritime Police is a unique document of time, showing the role of the Slovenian security authorities in the maritime field. This historical fact is of great importance, as it connects Slovenia with maritime and Mediterranean countries.

The exhibition is open at the Infocenter of the Maritime Museum in Monfort until January 10, 2023.
