Highliths from the workshop "Presentation of the Conservator-Restorer Profession"
From 13-19 October 2025, the 8th edition of the European Days of Conservation-Restoration (EDCR) takes place across Europe. The Sergej Mašera Maritime Museum Piran, has joined the campaign by organizing three workshops titled "An Introduction to the Profession of the Conservator-Restorer."
On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, we welcomed the students from the Centre for Communication, Hearing, and Speech Portorož (CKSG) to the former salt warehouse Monfort. During their visit, they met the museum’s conservator-restorer Ajda Purger, who introduced them to the profession responsible for the physical preservation of cultural heritage objects.
After an engaging discussion about various conservation techniques and the fascinating aspects of preserving museum artifacts, the children had the opportunity to try their hand at retouching and assembling fragments of a ceramic flower pot — with great success.
