Olive Harvesting at Tona's House 2025

On a beautiful sunny day on Saturday 18 October 2025 we picked olives in a small olive grove next to Tona's House. We were joined by visitors from different parts of Slovenia, who were longing to engage in this activity themselves. By picking and putting olives in balgichi (cloth bags), we immersed ourselves in time a century ago, although the work was done much faster with the aid of more refined rakes.

Under the guidance of Matjaž Guzič, the curator of the ethnological collection, the visitors also had a good look at the museum collections, after which we all relished delicious bobichi (a stew made from young corn) and sweet homemade kroshtoli (angel wings).

The oil has already been pressed and we are waiting for it to clear up. Olive tasting will follow.
