Glimpses from a Sea-Themed Kamishibai
On Wednesday, 4 June 2025, as part of the accompanying programme of the Slovenian museums’ exhibition project “Heritage and the Power of Myths”, we held the first presentation of the sea-themed kamishibai “Victory for Two” at the Maritime Museum.
Through a modern story about friendship, sailing, and the sea, we intertwined ancient myths about the Greek goddess of victory, Nike, and her Roman counterpart, Victoria.
Children of various ages took part, listened with interest to the storyteller Špela Pahor, visited the exhibition with archaeologist Snježana Karinja, and shared their comments vivaciously. They were guided through the museum’s permanent exhibitions by Nadja Terčon, Snježana Karinja, and Veronika Bjelica.
Also the children from the Mornarček Kindergarten in Piran, the Barčica unit in Portorož, and the Ankaran Kindergarten visited the museum to hear the story and learn something new about the maritime heritage.
