Prof. Zhou Weiqiang from the Hong Kong Palace Museum in the Museum of Salt-making at Sečovlje
At the invitation of the Asian Studies Department of the Science and Research Centre Koper, as well as by the Department of Asian Studies of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ljubljana and the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum, our country was visited by Prof. Zhou Weiqiang from the Palace Museum in Hong Kong, an expert in Chinese art. On Friday, 8 November 2024, he initially gave a lecture at the Science and Research Centre Koper (ZRS) on the subject of database use in Chinese archives, while in the afternoon of the same day he lectured to the general public on symbols in Chinese art at the Humanities Centre within ZRS Koper. This was followed by the opening of the Poster Exhibition Fragments of East Asian Art - Skušek's Collection, set up in cooperation with ZRS Koper, the Department of Asian Studies of the Faculty of Arts Ljubljana and the Slovenian Ethnographic Museum.
On the following day, Prof. Zhou Weiqiang visited, together with various participants in the project East Asian Collections in Slovenia, Orphaned Objects, in which the Maritime Museum Piran is also taking part, the Museum of Salt Making in the Sečovlje Salina Nature Park. They were all highly impressed by the Museum and its concept of heritage presentation.
