European Days of Conservation-Restoration 2024 at the Maritime Museum

♦ The week between the 14th and the 20th of October 2024, the European Days of Conservation-Restoration took place (https://www.ecco-eu.org/european-day-of-conservation-restoration). The Maritime Museum “Sergej Mašera” Piran also participated this year in the event.

♦ On Thursday, October 17, 2024, the pupils of a Centre for Communication, Hearing and Speech Portorož visited us at the ex-salt warehouse Monfort. They met the museum’s conservator-restorer, Ajda Purger who introduced them to the profession that cares for the physical preservation of cultural heritage objects.

After discussing the various processes, materials, and curiosities of preserving the museum objects, the children successfully tried assembling and gluing fragments of (new) ceramic flower pots.
