Rotter Jožko
Jožko Rotter (Ribnica, 6 February 1904 – ?)
He attended primary and secondary technical schools in Ljubljana. After graduating he boarded the ship Istina and then sailed on board different ships of the Yugoslav Merchant Navy. In the meanwhile he sought additional education, particularly in the field of marine engineering. During World War II he sailed on Yugoslav ships, mostly in convoys between South America and England. He returned home as late as 1947. By order he took part in various professional commissions for both navies, particularly in the purchase of ships, and studied shipbuilding in between. In 1948 he was employed as technical inspector in Yugoslovanska linijska plovidba in Rijeka and was subsequently transferred to the Merchant Navy Directorate General. All the time he was striving for technical improvements in ships. In 1954 he was invited by Boris Šnuderl to join Splošna plovba Portorož and worked there as Technical Director till his retirement in 1964.
