Lenarčič Anton
Anton Lenarčič (Ljubljana 8 September 1898 – ?)
In 1912, he enrolled at the Naval Academy in Pula and became a naval cadet in 1915. He served in the Austro-Hungarian Navy until its collapse, then continued his career in the Royal Navy of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes and of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, where he acquired, in 1937, the rank of Captain. He completed torpedo, aircraft and fighter pilot specialization. For a while he was Commander of the minesweeper Kobac, but also served on board other vessels and in naval aviation. During World War II he was imprisoned in Gonars, the Italian concentration camp. After the war he moved to Piran and worked as a part-time professor at the Slovenian Merchant Marine Academy. He taught astronomy, navigation, ship equipment, signalization, telegraphy and radiotelegraphy. He was the instigator and first-signed founder as well as first President of the LRS Seafarers Club, then its long-time active Vice President.
