The ship’s figurehead depicting a sea monster decorated a smaller fishing or cargo boat in the second half of the 19th century. The mythological expression is emphasized by the combination of animal traits from different creatures merged into one figure. Characteristic of all such figures and this ship’s figurehead are the large mouth and strongly emphasized eyes.
