The figurehead with the mythical image of Medusa adorned the bow of the sailing ship "Corriere d'Egitto," which belonged to the famous captains Nazario and Domenico Zetto from Koper, as did the schooners "Istria" and "Zorniza." In the first half of the 19th century, their ships connected Trieste with Egypt and the Near East.
