Decorative fruit bowl "navicella", inv. no. U.k. 123

This type of artistically designed fruit bowls were a characteristic decorative element of bourgeois culture at the end of the 19th century. Neptune carries a ship with an unfurled sail and a sea nymph or Venus on the bow. This excellent handcrafted item from an unknown workshop adorned the dining room of the Gilda villa in Portorož.
